Sunday Papers Live – The Cambridge Edition

October 27, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 5:30 pm

A homage to the shared joys of Sunday

A day of walks, talks, roasts & performances that bring the broadsheets to life

“…100 percent quality, Grade-A downtime.”   – Time Out

How it Works

The Papers – The broadsheets are brought to life, section by section, performance by performance, by writers, musicians, poets and comedians. Speakers or performers, will take to the floor for 15 – 30 minute slots throughout the day. Guests can dip in and out as they like. We create a relaxed atmosphere with the help of plump cushions, and refreshments! Some talks/acts will be silly, some will be serious, some will make you dance on the tables.

Booze and nearly a Roast– Food and drink is what Sundays are all about. So whether guests want brunch and coffee, Bloody Marys, prosecco and a delicious gourmet sandwich from Bread and Meat, such as rare roast beef ciabatta, we have it all at The Union.

Walk – Walks, tours and conversations, a guided walk provided by one of Cambridge’s most knowledgable conversationalists.

Relax – A cozy Sunday retreat is created for the day, the historic debating chamber in The Union will be plumped with cushions and blankets , the bar houses oversized chesterfields,  cake and piles of papers. We highly recommend you bring a pair of slippers. Be prepared to get very comfy indeed. Smoking jackets, blankets, knitting, and cats are encouraged. Napping is also fine.
